A job well begun, is half done!

Yes folks, most nights there is a moon out there.  Sometimes we can see it and sometimes we can’t.  If you want to see it with your naked eyes, tonight is a good time because it will be closer then most of the year.  However, if you have even a cheap telescope, mine only cost $200, you can get fantastic views anytime.  Best time to view is when it’s NOT full, because then it will have some shadows, which gives viewers a better chance to see craters and mountains.  Below is a video of the moon moving across my computer screen, taken a while age, why it’s pink I don’t know.  Enjoy the view.

Update June 29th, 2013, Location has been moved to Midland Beach Turtle Circle.

Scheduled for the 29th of June after dark, see my video below of past years fireworks.

Fireworks on the 4th of July, Staten Island’s Wolfe’s Pond Park

Always a crowd pleas-er, the fireworks at Wolfe’s Pond Park this year, 2013 will be on Saturday June 29th, with a rain date scheduled for the next day June 30th.  It is recommended that you get there early, parking can be a problem, because when it gets dark at 9 PM the fireworks will start.  If the past years are any indication of the attendance, there will be plenty of people.  You can bring blankets or chairs, the park has been restored after Hurricane Sandy.  Past years had a band playing music before the fireworks go off.  Usually a good nature d crowd mostly families attend.  You can see my video of a past performance below.

If it’s a daytime parade you’re looking for, the Travis 4th of July parade is the best on Staten Island. Just click on that link.

Mr. President,  Mr. Governor, Mr. Mayor; Restore our faith in our Government!

This is an open letter to all who seek public office.  Remember who you work for!  We may not like your ideas and so you may not have our vote, but you need our respect.

All too often we hear empty promises, only to be forgotten after taking office.

Just a few examples;

Social Security will never be taxed, FDR.  promise broken by V.P. Al Gore, and half of the Senate.

Richard Nixon, I’m not a crook

Read my lips, no new taxes;  George HW Bush, promise broken after taking office.

I did not have sex with that women.  Bill Clinton, need I say more.

Mine will be the most transparent administration ever.  Obama.  We are still waiting for answers to;  Fast and FuriousBenghazi, IRS misuse of information, andNSA use of 112 million peoples phone records and more.

Fighting corruption in New York State;  what has Governor Cumo done about the State Assembly leader Sheldon Silver’s actions (using taxpayers money) regarding the sex scandal of one of the Assemblyman in office?

And you want us to trust you with a public office?  No wonder some people don’t vote anymore.

So don’t tell us what you are going to do, tell us what you are not going to do.

How about starting with; you will not raise our taxes, fees, tolls, etc. so as not to make the people who pay the bills want to leave our city, state or Country.

Restore our faith in our government.

Widow Makers

When lumber jacks cut down trees in the forest, sometimes a branch or two will get caught on an adjacent tree and break off and get hung up on that adjacent tree.  Sometime later it will fall and if it hits anyone it can kill.  That’s why they are called “widow makers”

Homeowners need to be aware of this as well.  If you look at any trees on your property, you might see something like this in the photo below.     Those dead branches are potential killers.  Now is a good time to check the trees on your property and  trim the dead branches.

Less then a week after I posted this, a women is hit by a falling limb in Central Park
